(New York, NY Correspondent News) Oleg Frish is fresh off releasing his long awaited American Standards Album “Duets With My American Idols”. The album features duets with some of America’s favorite classic singers covering legendary standards songs. The 15-track labor of love begins with an introduction by Connie Francis followed by duets with Melissa Manchester, Lainie Kazan and Tony Orlando to name a few. “Duets With My American Idols” is available on iTunes at: http://bit.ly/iTunes-Duets-American-Idols and Amazon at: http://bit.ly/Amazon-Duets-American-Idols.
Following the successful record release party at the Russian Consulate in New York, Oleg will be actively promoting the new album alongside duet partners Lou Christie, Gary U.S. Bonds and Lainie Kazan in the New York market. He is currently booking press (radio, online, print, interviews, on-air performances), dates and availability will be determined by the each artist’s individual tour schedules and availability.
The record release party was attended by 18 time Grammy recipient Jimmy Sturr, Bobby Rydell, Rita Cosby from CBS Inside Edition, Curtis Sliwa the founder and CEO of the Guardian Angels, Chip White from WABC-TV, iconic jazz singer Helen Merrill, the producer of “Duets With My American Idols” Allan Schwartzberg and other notable guests. Oleg performed “When You’re Smiling” to the standing room only crowd with Lou Christie and “You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You” with Gary U.S. Bonds.
Oleg Frish grew up in the Soviet Union, which had its American culture challenges. American music was a Cold War persona-non-grata, but yet; hit classics like “Volare”, “Hello Dolly”, and “Sunny” permeated the Iron Curtain. These songs fostered Oleg’s love for contemporary American hits ranging from ‘40s swing to pop rock from the ‘60s. That love is the origin of “Duets With My American Idols”; it is a dream come true. “Hearing hit music in USSR back in the day was tricky. There was only one record company, Melody, that promoted American music. You could buy records at retail but they were being sold illegally. I would read magazines, listen to ‘flex-discs’ – you know they were sometimes inserted in the pages of magazines. It’s kind of a mission; I love those songs but without airplay and new recorded renditions, they could be lost,” Oleg remarked.
Oleg started his own celebrity news program in 2005 (in the Russian language) airing on NTV, a leading Russian TV channel, called “Time Out”. Some of his guests have included legendary American and European celebrities such as James Brown, B.B. King, Connie Francis, Engelbert Humperdinck, Paul Anka, Al Martino, Jack Jones, John Kander, Jerry Herman, Marvin Hamlisch, Petula Clark, Michel Legrand, Yma Sumak, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Brenda Lee, Vikki Carr, Keely Smith to name a few. Previously, upon arriving in the United States from Russia, he hosted radio and television programs on the first Russian language TV/Radio station- WMNB.
